Field Trip!

Last week I went on my first field trip....as a teacher, that is! In 6 years of teaching, 1st grade has never taken a field trip. This year we went to the McKinney Performing Arts Center to see the book Stellaluna be performed with puppets. I was so excited! At school we've been teaching the kids about research...how to formulate questions (most people would NEVER believe how hard it is for 1st graders to actually come up with a question) and what resources they can use to answer them. We researched bats and they came up with all kinds of cool questions! They wanted to know things like....How do bats not crash into things since they fly at night? Anyway...I'm a little proud of my kids, if you couldn't tell....so they field trip. It was so good! The kids were so good...they had to ride a bus, which is new for my kids....our school doesn't actually have any buses since most of them have Hummers and Range Rovers. :) Here's a pic of the play and afterwards a "Bat Woman" (seriously....that's what she called herself) showed us some real live bats. I don't think I should post pics of my kids...but they are so cute!
